Academics

To enhance learning opportunities for all children by recognising each child’s unique individuality, academic, social and cultural strengths and interests.

Academic excellence lies at the heart of what we do at Amaano Day and Boarding
School, ADBS.
Our culture fosters ambition, ignites a love of learning, and is underpinned by a
nurturing and supportive community.
Cultivating a love for learning
We are committed to ensuring your child leaves ADBS with a lifelong intellectual
curiosity, the self-belief to embrace the challenges of further education and the
world of work, and the knowledge that he/she is part of a passionate and
dynamic school community.
At ADBS we give every learner the time and space to discover and pursue their
talents by offering an impressively broad curriculum and outstanding specialist
teaching. Indeed, unlike all other schools in the Horn of Africa all subjects are
delivered by subject specialist teachers.
Our state-of-the-art facilities and passion for 21 st century learning enable a new
kind of creativity and collaboration in the classroom and beyond.
The academic results of ADBS, which are consistently outstanding and getting
better, offer a glimpse into the quality of our academic curriculum.

Respect

Respecting students means regarding them with special attention, honoring them, showing consideration toward them, being concerned about them, appreciating them, relating to them, and caring for them. Young people are dignified and strengthened by adult respect.

Responsibility

Student responsibility occurs when students take an active part in their learning by recognizing they are accountable for their academic success. It is demonstrated when they make choices & take actions which lead them towards their goal of education.

Honesty

Many children think honesty means you “don’t tell a lie”– and speaking the truth is a big part of being honest. But honesty means more than “not lying.” Honesty means your actions are truthful too. If you have to hide what you are doing because you are trying to trick someone, you probably aren’t being honest. So honesty is about both speaking and acting truthfully

Kindness

Kindness is a key ingredient that enhances positivity and helps children feel good about themselves as it increases serotonin levels. … Children with a positive outlook have greater attention spans, more willingness to learn, and better creative thinking to improve results at school.
